ADVENTURES

I’ve always loved exploring my environment- from balancing on top of  fences throughout the neighbourhood as a seven year old, wagging school to build tree huts at the age of eight, to tramping and learning about conservation in the rugged Kawhia bush reserves as a teenager.

Our family was expelled from the Pauanui camp ground in the early 70s- for possession of a canine. Not to be deterred, my mother embarked on an exploration of  areas from the Bay of Islands to Gisborne with just the tent, the 5 kids and a double burner gas stove- and of course, the dog. We camped wherever we could- and in so doing discovered some wonderful spots that now have official camp grounds- places where I now take my own brood. Check out some of the clips from the Kaueranga Valley (Coromandel Peninsula). They will be on this site within  two weeks.

Here’s an adventure close to home: the kids kayaking at Karaka Bay (East Auckland).
